The South Carolina Life Scholarship program provides scholarships to eligible students attending South Carolina four-year colleges or universities and tuition cost scholarships to eligible students attending South Carolina two-year colleges or universities. The scholarships must be applied directly toward the cost of attendance. Half of the scholarship shall be disbursed during the fall semester and half during the spring semester of the college year.
The scholarship criterion requires students to be South Carolina residents. Students must have a cumulative GPA or 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at high school graduation. Students can have no felony, drug, or alcohol convictions and no defaults or refunds owed on federal or state financial aid. Students must be enrolled in an eligible state institution within two years and three months of high school graduation and must be full-time degree-seeking undergraduate students.
Students must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or above, an SAT score of 1100, or an ACT score of 24, or rank in the top 30% of their graduating class. A combination of any two is required.
The award for the LIFE Scholarship is up to $5,000* (including a $300 book allowance) per year. *This amount may be adjusted, at any time, by the state legislature. Please exercise caution in planning college finances.
