SCIENCE
The Science Department at Lakewood High School strives to ignite curiosity and deepen students' understanding of the natural world. Through hands-on experiments, scientific inquiry, and comprehensive study in biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science, we empower students to become thoughtful and informed citizens.
Our curriculum is designed to cultivate scientific literacy, encouraging students to question, investigate, and make informed decisions based on evidence. We prepare our students to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving world with a sense of responsibility, curiosity, and scientific reasoning.
Let Them Live; Let Them Thrive
Mrs. Rhems Environmental class was learning about about the water cycle and water purification. As a result, she decided to allow her students to participate in a water filtration project. She collected water from the LHS pond for the project and discovered she had several tadpoles in her sample. She used the tadpoles to introduce her next unit (Ecology and carrying capacity). Here are some images of her class's work.
